Barbara Harris was born in Salt Lake City, UT on August 26, 1933 to Paul and Ruth Brandley. Barbara passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 after a long brave battle with dementia. She was at home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Andy Harris; daughters, Sheryl Templeton and husband Don of Mesa, AZ and Dana Van Doren and husband Dave of Albuquerque; sister, Shirley Donahue of Albuquerque; and brother, Kent Brandley of Albuquerque. She has four grandchildren, Bryan, Brad, Kyle and Erin; and four great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her son, James Andrew Harris; and her great-granddaughter, Ryan Michelle O'Neill. Barbara graduated from Highland High School in 1951. She became a dental assistant for Dr. Glen Thurman. When her children were born, she devoted her life to being a homemaker. She never met a stranger and adored children. She taught Sunday School for 15 years at Hoffmantown Baptist Church. Barbara was a member of Gideons International Auxiliary for 29 years. During her membership, she devoted her spare time to the women's Prison Ministry which she loved and enjoyed. Barbara will always be remembered for her beautiful smile - she lit up a room; and always had words of encouragement for everyone. People would line up for her homemade pies. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and is now in the arms of her Savior. We are grateful to Debbie, RN, OnPoint Hospice, and Nellie Candelaria for their loving care.
