Austin Negus Padilla was born on September 6, 2004, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Al Padilla and Angela Reed Padilla. Austin was the third of four children. He excelled in music, playing trumpet in the Roosevelt Jazz Honors band, learning guitar and keyboards, and writing/producing for four years in Mr. Wood's East Mountain High School Music Program. Austin was an NHS honor student, with a 4.0, and played with the Golf team for two seasons. Austin was most often found deep in his creative work on the computer, coding and creating. He mastered 3D printing and brought his popular character 'Gary' to life in 3D, on posters and T-shirts, and often cropping up in interesting places around school. Austin had a dry sense of humor, is remembered by friends and teachers as kind and generous, and was a beloved and cherished member of his family. Austin's 'Bois' (boys) at EMHS were his posse in friendship and making music.
Austin is survived by his parents, Angela and Al; his sister, Alex Padilla; brother, James Padilla, and cousins, Tiffany, Sydney, Rylie, Devon, Patrick, Hailey, Parker, Kaycee, Taylor, Tori, Morgan, Bethany, Marina and Kolbe. Austin passed into the loving arms of those preceding him in death, including his brother, Greg Padilla, grandfather, Telesfor Padilla, and grandmother, Roberta Negus, his namesake.
