Audelia Roybal

October 14, 1932 — July 7, 2024

Audelia (Delia) Roybal, 91, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-mother, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque on July 7, 2024. A resident of El Rancho, Audelia was known by many people as Delia, Lila or Mama D.

Delia was born in Nambe, New Mexico, on October 14, 1932. She was a devout Catholic and was a lifelong member of Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe de Pojoaque. Delia was member of the Catholic Daughters, the Holy Family, the Santisima Trinida, and stayed monthly with the Blessed Sacrament.

Delia's journey through life was committed to her love of family and friends. Delia worked at the Pojoaque Valley Schools for 20 years as a cafeteria cook and manager. She loved it when former students from Pojoaque Valley Schools would come up to her and tell her how much they loved the food. She loved music, shopping and her visits to the casino trying her luck at bingo and on the slots. She enjoyed visits from friends and family and was known by many as a great confidant.

Delia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Delia is survived by her son Steven Roybal, daughter Beverly Martinez and the loves of her life grandson Marcus Martinez (Kelly) and her bundle of joy, great granddaughter Maya. She is also survived by sisters-in-laws Celine and Geraldine Lujan, Sally Ortiz and brother-in-law Melisendro (Chendo) Roybal (Nina) and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Delia is preceded in death by husband Eraquio Roybal and son Paul Roybal, parents Bernabe and Juan Lujan of Nambe, siblings Joe Lujan (Mary), Teresina Romero (Luis), Ramon Lujan, Ponce Lujan, and Patsy Montoya (Juan) and in-laws, Nevarez Roybal (Amatha), Donna Torres (Frank), Sue Alexander (Emmett), Linda Baca (Ben), Louise Jaramillo(Alfonso) and Barbara Stover (Charles).

Delia was a beautiful person inside and out. She was an inspiration of love and strength, and her memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Thank you for all the beautiful memories. She will be forever in our hearts.

A Holy Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am and funeral mass will follow at 10:00 am at the Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe de Pojoaque on Tuesday, August 6th.

Burial will take place at a later date at the El Rancho Cemetery. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Marcus Martinez, Ricardo Romero, Myriah Romero and Raelynn Lujan. Honorary Pallbearers: Orlando and Sadie Torres. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a charity she held dear to her heart.
