Atilano Dominguez Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Albuquerque, NM, on October 27, 2022, after several years of declining health. JR was born on October 19, 1942, in Taos, NM, to parents the late Atilano Dominguez Sr. and Fidelia Medina Dominguez of Penasco, NM. JR, as many friends and family often called him, was raised in Penasco. He graduated from Penasco High School in 1961 and moved to Albuquerque, where he worked in the manufactured housing industry. In 1968 he married Loretta "Lori" Baca, and in 1972 they founded Manzano Mobile Home Service, which they owned and operated for 46 years.
JR was preceded in death by his parents, Atilano and Fidelia Dominguez, his in-laws Ruben and Matilda Baca, his brothers Leo Dominguez and Edwin Dominguez, along with his sister Rosella Martinez, sister-in-laws Helen Dominguez, Martha Baca-Cordova, and brothers-in-law Florentino Martinez and Ted Cordova and Sister in Christ Sister Bridgetta Slinger. He is survived by his loving wife Lori of 54 years, his two children Josh Dominguez (Christy) and Jennifer Dominguez Jayme (Carlos), and his three grandchildren Lance, Kyle, and Kenya. He is also survived by his brother Pete Dominguez and sisters, Nancy Martinez (Rudy), Diana Lovato (Donald), Sister Ada Dominguez, Edith Dominguez, and Cecilia Dominguez (Michael), sister-in-law Percy Dominguez and Brother-in-law Ronnie Baca (Sandra). JR was a die-hard Lobo fan, an avid fisherman, car lover, and always had an entrepreneurial spirit. He never passed up an opportunity to make or save a buck. He loved to laugh and was extremely loyal and dedicated to his family and friends. Services for JR will take place at The Shrine of St. Bernadette on November 22, 2022. Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM, followed by a Catholic Mass at 10:00 AM and a reception. Interment will occur on November 23, 2022, at the Las Cruces Cemetery in Taos, NM.
