Arturo Montano

Arthur (Art) Leroy Montaňo age 77 a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico went to heaven on April 2, 2024, at home with loving family by his side. Arthur was born in Manzano, New Mexico to Nikki (Nicolasita) and Juan Montaňo on March 15, 1947.

Arthur is survived by his children Arthur Ray Montaňo and wife Yolanda, Yvonne Candelaria and husband Dale Candelaria, and Daniel Montaňo, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandkids. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Ubaldo Montaňo and wife Margaret, Carmen Montes and husband David, Helen Cordova and husband Richard, Gilbert Montaňo and wife Dorothy, Eloy Montaňo and wife Patsy, George Zamora and wife Marlene, Ricky Montaňo, and Yolanda Montaňo. Arthur had many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Linda Montaňo, brother Alvarito (Al) Montaňo, parents Juan and Nikki (Nicolasita) Montaňo, as well as nieces Melissa Cordova, Cindy and Annette Zamora, and nephew Steven Montaňo, and his comadre Nancy Gonzales.

Arthur served his country in the United States Army and completed one tour in Vietnam. Arthur was a plasterer by trade and also a knowledgably mechanic. He worked hard to support his family and loved them dearly. Arthur had a kind spirit, a big giving heart and a contagious laugh and smile that could light up a room. He always made an impression with everyone he met. He was known for being the man that would give you the shirt off his back. Arthur will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Funeral services will be held at French Mortuary 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE on April 23, 2024, at 11am. Interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery 501 N. Guadelupe St with military honors at 2:00pm. A reception to follow at the Post 69 9000 4th Street NW at 3:30pm
