Arthur Russell Thompson, Jr.

Arthur Russell Thompson Jr., 69, passed away August 27, 2017. Russ is survived by his wife of 33 years, Brenda Thompson; sister, Mary Ann Thompson Schaff and husband, Dennis; and brother, Roger Thompson. He is also survived by Karen Costa; Monty and wife, Carol Flynn; grandchildren, Luc Flynn, Kendra Peck, Jessica Peck Chittenden and husband, Brandon; niece, Jennifer Thompson Dixon and husband, Michael; grand-niece, Ella Dixon; nephew, Michael Thompson; cousins, Larry Senf and Kelly Senf; and very good friends, Andy House and Bill Clayburgh. Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Russell Thompson Sr. and Jeanette Pitts Thompson; and sister-in-law, Susan Iversen Thompson.

Russ proudly served in the Air National Guard in Vietnam prior to a career with the Albuquerque Police Department for 33 years. While with APD he served as a motorcycle patrolman, pilot, recruiting officer and civilian employee at various substations. Russ was a lover of nature and an avid outdoorsman. In his retirement, he enjoyed cooking, gardening, feeding his grandchildren and the birds.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87112. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Sandia Baptist Church in memory of Arthur Russell Thompson Jr.
