Arthur (Monte) Monteith was born Thursday, May 7, 1936, in Pembrook, Nova Scotia Canada to William and Nancy Monteith. He was 85 years old when he was called to his Eternal resting place on Saturday, October 9, 2021, where his grandchildren believe that he will forever be their guardian angel.
He served his country in the United States Air Force as a military policeman. He later served his community as a police officer in the Albuquerque Police Department before retiring as a lieutenant. He met his beloved wife of 57 years, Marlene Monteith in Albuquerque and together they traveled the world, made many friends, were active in their church and community, and raised their family in the wonderful home they created in Bosque Farms, New Mexico. He was admired and loved by his children, adored by his grandchildren, and was a true friend to many.
He is survived by his spouse, Marlene Monteith; sons, Chuck Dixon (spouse, Karen), Joseph Monteith, James Monteith (spouse, Erika), Phillip Monteith (spouse, Debbie), and Patrick Monteith (spouse, Cara); daughters, Karin Wolff, Luann Dixon, Michelle (spouse, Fred Schaefer), and Nancy Wickham; brothers, Royce Monteith (spouse, Nancy), and Kent Monteith (spouse, Nancey); and sisters, Dianne (spouse, Harold Maeder) and Janice Monteith.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Monteith; mother, Nancy Isherwood Monte; brother, Charles Monteith; and sister, Marilyn Hyde.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021, A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at San Clemente Parish in Los Lunas.
