Arthur Robert Cannady III, age 81, of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Saturday, March 9th, 2024.
Bob was born in Streator, IL to parents, Robert Cannady, Jr., and Mary Adelaide Cannady (Boltz) on June 14th, 1942. He was the oldest of 2 sons. Bob attended High School at the Kemper Boys Academy in Boonville, MO. His post-secondary education consisted of degrees from Eastern New Mexico University where he received a bachelor’s degree in science and The University of New Mexico where he received a master’s degree in public administration. Married to Bobbie Lou Cannady (Bacon) on August 20th, 1966, their marriage was a 54-year testimony of love and faithfulness. Bobbie passed away on April 12th, 2021. She was a 25-year cancer survivor.
Bob enlisted in the Army in 1966 and served through 1968. He served as a Medical Corpsman during active combat in the Vietnam War. Bob's military honors include the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Bob's career was in Human Resources / Public Administration. He spent the majority of his career with the City of Albuquerque where he retired in the position of Deputy Personnel Director. Following retirement Bob proceeded with positions as Managing Director at Sandia Pueblo and HR Manager at the University of New Mexico.
Bob was a devoted Christian and an active member of Netherwood Park Church of Christ. His many years of service in ministry included serving as a Deacon at Montgomery Church of Christ. He had a strong calling to the benevolence ministry in which he served. Bob sought to share his faith in Christ and to instill his strongly rooted Christian faith and values in his family.
Bob's legacy lives on with his eldest son, Devin and his wife, Crickett and their sons, Reese, Chase and Tanner; and his youngest son, Randal and his wife, Kim; and their daughters, Kaylee and Riley. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, most importantly with his grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by parents, Robert Cannady, Jr., and Mary Adelaide Cannady (Boltz); his brother, Jimmy Cannady; and his wife, Bobbie Lou Cannady (Bacon).
Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 18th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., Netherwood Park Church of Christ, 5101 Indian School Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Bob will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation be made in Bob's name to The Alzheimer’s Foundation, 6731 Academy Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
