Arthur O'Neal Beach, 78, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, after a 3 1/2-year battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife Alex Clarke Doyle Beach of 53 years and their son, Eric Kronig Beach (Shanna Jensen).
Beach was born in Albuquerque on February 8, 1945, to William Pearce Beach and Vivian Kronig Beach, the oldest of three boys. He was raised in Belen, attended the Belen public schools and graduated from Belen High School in 1963 (National Honor Society, Boys State, track team). He was an active member of the Belen Boy Scouts attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Beach attended the University of New Mexico graduating in 1967 with a BBA degree (Men's junior and senior honoraries, Chakka and Blue Key, Student Senate, Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities). He is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Beach attended the UNM School of Law graduating in 1970 (JD) (Board of Editors Natural Resources Journal, National Moot Court Team). Beach was honored by the UNM School of Law Alumni Association with its Distinguished Achievement Award in 2006.
Beach was admitted to the New Mexico Bar Association in 1970, a membership he retained for 50 years. His first years of practice were with the Albuquerque firm of Smith, Ransom, and Deaton. He spent his last 44 years of practice with Keleher and McLeod, PA, retiring at the end of 2017. Beach was also a member of the New Mexico Federal Bar, Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. While in practice he was recognized by Martindale-Hubbell (AV), Best Lawyers in America and Southwest Super Lawyers.
Beach was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Cecil Beach. He is survived by his brother Davis Pearce Beach (Amelia) and his daughter Vivian Beach Cullen (Richard) and sister-in-law Dorothy Beach and her daughter Melisa Beach (Kevin Schwarz).
Beach enjoyed traveling with family and friends, skiing, and playing golf.
A service will be celebrated Saturday, December 2, 2023, 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Community, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW. Friends may visit FRENCH - University Friday, December 1, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
