Arlene Rita Ward, 82, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in Providence, RI to Alphonse T. Davis and Leona F. (Riel) Davis. Arlene was their only child, born rather late in their lives, and they and several aunts and uncles doted on her. She was educated in Providence at St. Thomas School and St. Mary's Academy of the Visitation, and lived in North Providence all of her life until the death of her husband of 48 years, Malachi D. Ward, in 2009, when she moved to Pawtucket RI, then Memphis TN and Albuquerque NM, to be close to family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael, and is survived by her son Kenneth (Kerrie), granddaughter Chantelle Ward Oyler (Seth), grandson Lucas Ward, and a soon-to-arrive first great-grandson. She worked hard all of her life, spending more than 20 years as an injection mold operator for Davol/Bard on the overnight shift and then working in various jewelry manufacturing companies during the day. In a much-deserved retirement, she usually could be found with a Dunkin Donuts iced coffee in one hand, and a James Patterson novel in the other.
