Ardis June Karler passed away at the age of 99 on May 25, 2022. She was born in Tippecanoe Indiana on April 13, 1923, to Loren and Dessie Brockey.
Ardis was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Lloyd, and her husband Robert, who passed in 1989, and a grandson Nathan.
Ardis is survived by seven children and their families, daughter Marlyn and husband Sal, daughter Jane, son Charles and wife Mary, son Jon and wife Tammy, son Phillip and wife Anita, son Paul and wife Sandy and son Ed and wife Machelle. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, with one on the way.
Ardis was raised on an eighty-acre farm in northern Indiana during the great Depression where there was no shortage of hard work and very little money.
She graduated from high school in 1941 and nursing school in 1944. She was a nurse until she met her husband Robert and they married in 1947, then moved to New Mexico also in 1947. Over the next sixteen years they had seven children.
She always helped Robert in all of his business ventures, including owning a used car lot and owning and running three restaurants and last but not least, a coin and precious metals company, which still exists today.
She enjoyed collecting antiques, going fishing and spending most of the time with family. She was one of the remaining few of the Greatest Generation that always put family and country first. With very little money and an abundance of hard work it allowed them to be successful. Her work ethic, resolve, resilience, and integrity were the foundation of her life which was passed to her seven children.
Ardis had a zest for life and fought hard to the end. She will be greatly missed.
A private family graveside service will be held.
