Antonio "Tony" Gilberto Vigil

Antonio “Tony” Gilberto Vigil, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the age of 86.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacobo and Clara Vigil, his brother Ernesto and his son Jacob.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary, his daughter Maureen Belinda and husband Steve, and grandchildren, Eric and Mariah.  Antonio was born on July 2, 1931 in Espanola, NM.  He grew up in El Guache (Rio Arriba). He attended El Rito Normal School, Highland University and served nearly 26 years in the United States Air Force where he met his “live souvenir”, Mary (O’Dowd) from Trim, Ireland.  He retired from Civil Service at Kirtland Air Force Base in 1993.  He will be fondly rembered by many family and friends as a loving husband, father and “papa” who cherished and enjoyed life and family.  We will miss his gentleness, his wonderful sense of humor, his warm smiles and loving heart. Services will be Wednesday, February 7, 2018 with Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass following at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave NE. Visitation will be from 10:15 a.m. to 10:30 am. Interment will be on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 9:45 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
