Emblem

Antonio ("Tony") Gonzales, age 95, a dedicated family man and honorable servant of our country in the Air National Guard, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away in California on February 12, 2024.

Tony was known for his generosity, good spirits, love and long-time service to his parish, Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Tony was married to his beloved wife, Anita, for nearly 70 years, living most of their married lives in the same house where they raised their two daughters, Marie Busalacchi and Theresa Gonzales. Tony was a skilled craftsman.

As he might have said, he had enough "Mohow Knowhow" to turn the tiny house they bought in 1952 into a comfortable three-bedroom, two-bath house with the help of family and friends! Tony was a veteran of 37 years of military service, including two tours of duty in Korea. Although he was offered several opportunities to become an officer, he was too much of a regular guy in his own mind and retired as a master sergeant in the Air National Guard. Tony was an active participant in the Catholic Church and St. Vincent De Paul Society and Our Lady of Guadalupe Society, bringing charity and compassion to those most in need. He was the last of his generation, and leaves his daughters, Marie and Theresa, and nieces and grandnieces and grandnephews, and many God Children who always enjoyed his company. They have many fond memories and will feel his loss as a friend and advisor.

Funeral Mass will be said at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE in Albuquerque, on March 8, 2024 at 10:00 am., with a reception to follow at French-University, 1111 University NE, Albuquerque. He will be interred afterwards at Santa Fe National Cemetery with his beloved wife.
