Antonio "Tony" Baca, 68, beloved partner, friend, mentor, and Albuquerque Police Officer for 20 years, passed away December 29, 2021. Tony was known for his pride in serving in the United States Army, serving our community with the Albuquerque Police Department, and mentoring numerous friends and family members whom he recruited into the police department. He enjoyed fishing and camping, football season and his Superbowl pool, hating the Dallas Cowboys, but mostly he enjoyed BBQing or making chicharonne carnitas with friends and family. He is survived by his life-long partner of 37 years, Anna Griego; and her parents Nick and Connie Griego. He is also survived by his sisters, MaryHelen Duran and her sons, Paul, David, and Daniel, Rosina Carrasco (Lalo) and their children, Vanessa and Michael. He also leaves many cherished in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Also touching Tony's life were friends he considered brothers, Stanley Gloria, Joe Carrasco, Arturo Gonzalez, Johnny Ray Sedillos, Manny Calderon, and Ramon Carrasco. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio "Tony" Baca and Tomasa "Tommie" Baca, his beloved dogs, better known as babies, Shyla, Amber, Suggie, and Crash. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, in Albuquerque, on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 11:00 am. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Duran, Stanley Gloria, Joe Carrasco, Arturo Gonzalez, Johnny Ray Sedillos, and Manny Calderon.
A Graveside is Friday, January 14, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE in Albuquerque, a memorial service will follow immediately after at The American Legion, 9000 4th St. NW Albuquerque, NM.
