Anne Zander was born on May 14, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY to Leif and Ameila Jacobsen. She passed away from a long illness on July 5, 2017 at the age of 82.
Anne married Tom Zander on April 29, 1961 in the Church St. Catholic Church, Brooklyn, NY. They met in the fall of 1960 when Tom was getting discharged from the Army and then had a long distance romance between Brooklyn and Tom’s home, San Diego, CA. Tom was finally able to get Anne to tie the knot after six months. This marriage lasted a fantastic 56 years. For the first 20 years of their marriage, Anne and Tom lived in San Diego where they had four children. Tom’s job then took them to Farmington, NM for three years, then to Los Lunas, NM and then to Albuquerque for the rest of her years.
Anne was an insurance clerk on Wall Street in Manhattan, NY and also worked various jobs in New York. Anne loved bowling, fishing, and gambling. She caught her biggest fish in Santa Rosa, NM. She also loved to travel and enjoyed all the attractions from California to Vermont. Anne is preceded in death by her parents Leif and Amelia Jacobson and son-in-law Douglas Adams.
Anne is survived by her husband, Tom; and their four children, Thomas Zander and wife, Peggy, Mary Zander, Helen Quintana and husband, Juan, and Linda Adams, all of the Albuquerque area; five wonderful grandsons, Jake, Daniel, Gabriel, James and Matthew. She is also survived by her sister, Jessie Forrest of Vermont; her brother, Jake Jacobsen and wife of Alaska; and an aunt who is a retired nun living in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Rosary will be recited Monday, July 10, 2017, 9:00 a.m., and Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m., both at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave. NW. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
