Anne Lewis Ranagan

July 23, 1923 — February 3, 2013

Anne Marie Lewis Ranagan passed away peacefully February 3, 2013 at her Albuquerque home, ending her struggle with pancreatic cancer. She was born July 23, 1923, in Charleroi, PA. The daughter of immigrant parents, Anne was a first generation American and the youngest of ten children born to John and Cecelia Pachmayer. Her parents came to the United States at the turn of the 20th Century. Anne brought a zest and energy to life that was infectious to all around her, whether they were life-long friends or a chance acquaintance. She never met a stranger and her kindness and caring for others was a hallmark of her life and a benchmark that will be difficult for others to attain. She led an active life almost to the very end. Anne loved being with people, listening to and often singing along with music, and to go dancing on Saturday night, something she continued to do even when she was well into her 80's. She was an avid bowler, and bowled on various leagues. Anne was an employee of Furr's Supermarkets in Albuquerque for many years, until her retirement nearly 30 years ago. Anne was not afraid to try new things, whether it was a giant rollercoaster when she was younger or a rafting trip with other senior citizens later in life. She enjoyed visiting Las Vegas, Branson, Mo. and many other destinations. Anne was a devoted and much loved mother and grandmother, and often doted on those she loved. A life-long Catholic, Anne attended Mass faithfully until her illness prevented her from doing so. Even then, she and her beloved companion would pray the rosary daily. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Eugene Lewis and Alfred Ranagan; daughter, Lori Lee Lewis; brothers, John Pachmayer, Joseph Pachmayer, Steve Pachmayer, Clarence Pachmayer and Paul Pachmayer; and sisters, Emma Biscoe, Mildred Nemeth and Mary De Petri. She is survived by her daughter, Penny Belvin and husband, Mark, of Rio Rancho; son, Mark Lewis of Aztec; grandsons, Michael Belvin of Vail Valley, CO. and Jason Belvin of Rio Rancho; beloved companion, Ralph Ortega; sister, Margaret Munley of Pasadena, TX; step-son, Mike Ranagan and wife, Sandra of Sandy, UT; many nieces and nephews; and a large, extended family. Rosary will be recited Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 7:00 pm at FRENCH - University, with viewing one hour prior from 6:00-7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 10:00 am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
