Anne B. Butcher passed away on September 27, 2021, at the age of 86. She was born on October 1, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri and, as the daughter of a university professor, grew up in several cities, including Charlotte, North Carolina and Washington, DC. She returned to her home state to attend the University of Missouri - Columbia where she completed her bachelor's degree in education. After graduating, she joined her parents, Dr. Elmer D. and Elizabeth A. Bueker in New York City and began her teaching career as a first-grade teacher. It was in New York City where she met and married her loving husband of 62 years, Barry M. Butcher. They moved to Ithaca, NY for him to complete his Doctorate degree at Cornell University, and then moved to Albuquerque, NM where they raised their children and lived the rest of their lives. As Anne valued education, she completed graduate courses in education at Cornell University while in Ithaca and later in Albuquerque at the University of New Mexico.
Along with taking extraordinary care of her family in every way, she enjoyed horseback riding, music, tennis, and Garden Club. Not to be left behind, she learned to snow ski and enjoyed sending everyone off to explore the mountain while she took runs at her own pace on the "Bunny Hill." Along with insisting her children worked hard in school, she was always there to support their extracurricular activities in ballet and music (especially the Albuquerque Boy Choir, Del Norte Marching Band and Great Western Rocky Mountain Brass Band).
She is survived by her sons James (Crystal) and William (Craig Thomsen); her grandchildren Stasia McCarthy (Jimmy), Cameron Butcher and Nathan Butcher; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter Susan (Henry Noestheden); her parents; and her grandson Jeremy Butcher.
