Anna Kathryn (Guinn) Mesiti

January 12, 1974 — October 1, 2021

It is with extreme sorrow we share the news that Anna Kathryn Mesiti passed away suddenly on Friday October 1, 2021, in her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Anna was deeply loved by her family and friends, whose lives she brightened every day.

Anna was born on January 12, 1974, to her adoring parents John Douglas Guinn and Kathryn Anne Guinn, and to the delight of her big sister Marnee. As soon as she was brought home from the hospital, she brought joy to our home. Anna loved her parents with all her heart and was incredibly close to them, together every day.

Anna attended Manzano Day School, Sandia Prep, and St. Pius, where she made lifelong friends. She studied Art History and French at the University of New Mexico, following her passions and nurturing her artistic nature.

Anna spent a year in Florence, where she became fluent in Italian and met the love of her life, Ilir Mesiti. The young couple moved back to Albuquerque and were married on January 15, 2000, in honor of the day of birth of Anna's Grandmother, Hope McGregor. Anna and Ilir's love for each other grew and deepened over their 22 years together. Anna was so proud to watch her talented husband graduate from UNM and work side by side with her dad, becoming a partner at Bridgers & Paxton.

Anna became a mother on September 8, 2006, when she gave birth to her beloved Emma Hope. Emma immediately revealed the same spark as her mom, showering our family with joy from the moment she arrived, bringing us laughter and beauty each day. Anna and Ilir became parents a second time when Luca Ilir Mesiti was born on September 14, 2009. Luca is a beautiful gift to our family, strong like his dad and caring like his mom. Emma and Luca carry their mother's bright light.

Anna is known to her family and friends as compassionate, caring, sweet, fun and funny. She loved her family more than anything in the world and was an incredible friend. She long devoted time to her sorority Alpha Chi, to her children's schools, and to causes she cared about. She was goofy and gorgeous.

It is difficult to write these words in the past tense. Anna is still alive in our hearts.

We will be gathering at 10am on Thursday, October 14 at FRENCH-Wyoming, to remember Anna and celebrate her life.
