July 25, 1915 — September 16, 2013

Age 98, born in Dawson, NM and a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, September 16, 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Betty A. Chepin and husband, Joseph of Gallup, NM; sons, William P. Mataya and wife, Doreen of Gallup, NM, Phillip J. Mataya and wife, Patricia of Minco, OK; grandchildren, Beth Sauter and husband, Brad, Laurie Conner and husband, Jimmy, Joey Chepin and wife, Kelli, Annelle Mataya, William Mataya and wife, Dee, Jerry Mataya, Juliana Bergin and husband, Chuck, Mark Mataya, Kim McKinley, Shelly Butler and husband, Joe; 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Marcelli, Matilda Christie and many other family and friends. Mrs. Lucero was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 2001; her parents, Mike and Angelina Zauhar and her sister, Kathryn Simpson. She was a member of the Catholic Church and a member of the Croation Fraternal Union for many years. Anna and Bob were members of the Albuquerque Chapter of American POW's and the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. She loved family reunions, cooking, baking, dancing and singing. A memorial gathering will take place Thursday, October 3, 2013 11:15 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with burial to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
