Anna Agnes Gonzales

Anna Agnes Gonzales of Albuquerque passed away peacefully on June 16, 2021, at the age of 94.

She was preceded in death by her husband Meliton Gonzales; her sister, Frances Garcia; her brothers, Joseph Chavez, John Chavez, and Raymond Chavez; niece Sara Hammond; and nephew Evans Albert Garcia. She is survived by nieces and nephews: Michael and wife, Premie Chavez, of Albuquerque; Pauline J. Garcia of Albuquerque; Margaret Ann Garcia of Albuquerque; Anthony and wife, Lisa Garcia of Torrance, California; Leta Mae and husband Bill Bishell of Blairsden, California; Anthony Chavez of Tucson, Arizona; Lorella and husband, Bill Chavez of Lemitar; Tony and wife, Margaret Gonzales, of Indio, California; Rey and wife, Trish Perkins, of Arlington, Texas; Jeanie and husband, Herman Dean of Tijeras Canyon; Cindy Easley of Yelman, Washington; Robert Lawrence of Albuquerque; Rocco Alderete of Arlington, Texas; Mela and husband, Dale Straley of Socorro;  Joel Alderete of Roswell; Joella and husband, Drew Livesey of Portland, Oregon; and many other great-nieces and great-nephews.

Anna was born in Galveston, Texas on August 27, 1926, and moved to Albuquerque with her family as a child.  She attended St. Mary’s High School and graduated from the University of New Mexico.  Her entire career was dedicated to teaching elementary school students at Albuquerque Public Schools.

Services for Anna will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper, N.W., Albuquerque.

Rosary and visitation will be at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd N.E., Albuquerque.
