Ann Nattress, having fought the good fight and having finished the race, is now HOME at last in the presence of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and is more alive today than she has ever been! She is survived by 3 children, Tina Ellison and husband, Jackson, Carol Elliott, and Craig Elliott and wife, Wendy. She also has 3 grandsons and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, Duke Nattress preceded her in death.
Ann was born in Breckenridge Texas in 1926 and enjoyed a long and fruitful life of 96 years. She moved to Albuquerque as a young child with her parents, C.H. and Evah Fulwiler and brother Hal. Her father and Uncle had purchased car dealerships in El Paso and Albuquerque and flipped a coin to determine who would go where.
Ann loved growing up in Albuquerque where her parents moved with such frequency from one home to another in the ACC area, that later, on Sunday drives, it seemed she pointed out every other house as one in which she had lived! Her high school years were spent in what is now remembered as the "Breaking Bad" house! She attended St Mary's school, Albuquerque High and a brief stint at Ward Belmont in Nashville.
She adored her parents and set a high bar when it came to lifelong, loving devotion and care. As her mother aged, Ann visited and shared her love daily.
Ann was smart, strong, generous, and an overcomer...qualities that served her well through divorce and a period of time as a single mother. All that changed, however, upon reconnecting with her high school sweetheart, Duke Nattress. Together they loved golf, dancing, travel, and many close lifelong friendships, often combining the 4. They shared a marvelous life of 46 years together!
Later, Ann had a life altering experience, receiving Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. This greatly affected her view of both life and death. Armed with new understanding and powerful truths from God's Word, she was equipped and prepared to face the death of her mother and only sibling on the same day! She often spoke of her life as "wonderful", even as she received the diagnosis of advanced Alzheimer's 8+ years ago. Her response..." It is what it is. With God's help, I will do my best to carry on."
