Anita Weaver

March 25, 1926 — September 19, 2022

Anita Weaver, age 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday September 19, 2022. Anita Faye Martin was born on March 25, 1926, in Washougal Washington. She graduated from Providence School of Nursing in Seattle Washington in 1947. Later that same year she moved to Albuquerque where her mother and stepfather had settled. Upon arriving, she secured a nursing position with Dr. William Randolph Lovelace. She met and married Gilbert Henry Weaver in 1948. The marriage continued for 58 years until his death in 2007.

She is survived by her four children, Steven Weaver and his wife, Sandy of Keene Texas, Carol Wheeler and her husband, Randy of Las Vegas, Nevada, Vicki Marsh and husband, Phil of Burleson Texas, and Patrice Lovato and husband, Jerry of Albuquerque. She was also the proud grandmother of eight; and great-grandmother of twelve, who are scattered across the country.

Anita had the greenest of green thumbs and always had the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood. She also grew delicious fruits and vegetables that her lucky family enjoyed year-round. She was a talented painter, enjoyed quilting and sewing, and played tennis into her fifties, if she could find a worthy opponent. Anita was a voracious reader and finished a book every one to two days; she was well known to local librarians. Anita welcomed into her home many pets over the years, but none of them were as close to her as Tanzy, her golden retriever, whom she shared a piece of toast with every morning for fourteen years. Anita was not a slave to fashion, but she did have her hair done once a week, rain or shine, and thanks to her hairdresser Bernie Hernandez, she looked her best for over thirty years. Her remains will be interred with her beloved husband at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
