Andrew Viera

Our beloved husband, father, brother and pastor, 70 years of age, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 20, 2020 in Albuquerque, NM following a battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family at this time.

Andrew was born and raised in Roswell, NM. He graduated from the University of New Mexico and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, when he received a Master of Divinity degree. He was a resident of Albuquerque, having lived previously in Ft. Worth, TX, Seattle, WA, Fresno, CA, Granada Hills, CA and Santa Fe, NM. He surrendered to the gospel ministry in 1970. In every setting, his passion was for people, preaching the gospel, and serving God through the ministry. He was a missionary and recently was pastor of First Bilingual Baptist Church in Albuquerque, having served the church for 14 years. He also served as a missionary in Washington State and in California with the California Baptist Convention.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Raquel A. Viera; his father, Andres B. Viera; and by his wife's parents, Priscilla and Juan Jaques of Belen, NM.

He is survived by his wife, Ernestine (Tina) Viera; daughter, Audrey Teresa Viera; and his son, Christopher John Viera. He is also survived by five siblings, Paul A. Viera and wife, Eloise of Portland, TN, Rodolfo E. Viera of Aurora, CO, George H. Viera and wife, Robyn of Cedar Grove, NM, Alice Montoya and husband, Eliseo of Albuquerque, and Ruben A. Viera of Albuquerque. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and loving in-laws.

He is now in the arms of the Father, who he loved with every breath.

Services will be held Thursday, February 27, 2020, 2:00 p.m., at First Bilingual Baptist Church, 812 Fruit Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
