ANDRES BACA (7/30/49 - 8/26/2022)
Funeral on September 12th at St. Therese Church (Rosary at 8:30 a.m. and mass following at 9 a.m.)
On August 26, 2022, The O.K. Kid otherwise known as Andres, Andrew, Andy, or Eddy Baca left this earth to join his eternal resting home with Jesus in Heaven. Andres was born on July 30, 1949, in Golden, NM. He was so proud of becoming an Airborne Ranger as he signed up to Live the Life of Blood and Danger (101st Division). As a dedicated Vietnam Veteran, Andres always sported his military clothing including his cool Army leather jacket and hats.
Andres had four children and has now met up with his favorite son, James, in heaven. His thriving daughters are Yvonne Baros (and husband Johnny), Patricia Betancourt (and husband Larry), Andrea Baca. He had nine grandchildren that drove him nuts at times and may have caused a few of his gray hairs, but he loved them all deeply. His Baca family includes several that he just met up with in heaven such as his mother Carmen, father Nestor, sister Frances, and brothers Lalo and Daniel. His surviving siblings include Maria, Lorraine, Ann, and Lawrence. Andres stated on several occasions that he would be saving a spot for all of us in Heaven.
Andres loved the finer things in life such as camping, hunting, and fishing. As a risk taker who utilized all of his nine lives, he came close to drowning at Soda Damn when he was younger. His love for the outdoors remained. When it was time to dress up, he channeled his inner Johnny Cash. He would strut his black leather vest, Wranglers, cowboy boots and hat, and a vintage bolo tie.
On any given day, Andres would watch cowboy shows and look for old John Wayne movies all while addressing himself as the real O.K. Kid. Our dad is now watching us from above with Cowgirl by his side. The next time you drink a Bud light, send a quick cheer to our dad.
