Allison Bird-Romero of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at her home. She was born on October 1, 1949 in Seattle, WA to Thomas E. and Albina (Kovacic) Mails. Allison was an accomplished Native American historical author and authored many books, including her best work, Heart of the Dragonfly. She was a well suited historian in part from her family roots from Meriwether Lewis through her father. Allison is survived by her husband, Mike Bird-Romero; daughter, Kamella Bird-Romero; and granddaughter, Gia Ivory Abeyta, all of Ohkay Owingeh. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, 10:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe Dr., Santa Fe.
