Born September 29, 1919 son of Marie and Ernest Putnam passed May 31, 2018 age 98 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; his mother and father; and his brother; Robert. Allan grew up hunting with his father and brother.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corp at the start of WWII and was sent to West Point as an ordinance instructor. From there he was sent to Wendover Base, Utah where he was a member of the Military Team preparing flight test and operational atomic bombs, part of the overall Manhattan Project. In 1945 that team was transferred to Sandia Base (now Kirtland). In 1945 he became a civilian staying on first in the logistics field working for the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project, the Defense Atomic Support Agency, the Defense Nuclear Agency, rising to the position of 1606th Air Base Wing Executive Support Staff Officer. He retired after 40 years of service to his country. He was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal twice and the Exceptional Civilian Service Medal. He was twice named Executive Support Staff Officer of the year. He was a faithful member of the Base Chapel since 1946.
He leaves his two daughters, Bobbie J. Moore, and husband William, Billie J. Beeman; grandchildren, Kari Moore and husband, Steve, Kami Showalter and husband, Bill, Todd Beeman, Kristin Danson, Jill Beeman and Amy Beeman; and great-granddaughters, Taylor Gonzales and husband, Michael, and Payton Showalter.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018, 1:30 p.m. at FRENCH – Lomas.
