Alice (Blea) Whitson

Alice Whitson, 83, passed away and returned to her heavenly home on April 5, 2018. She was faithful to her family and firm belief in God. Alice was completely devoted to her children, grandchildren, and all her family members and friends.

She is survived by her three children, Sharon Aiuto, Randy Whitson (Kelly), Mark Whitson (Linda); grandchildren, Tina (Bryan) Benning, Jason Pfierman, Kyle Aiuto, Natasha (Chris) Hart, Autumn Whitson, Dylan and Jordan Whitson; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Elena York, Louis Blea, Josie Blan, Mary Hammonds, Joe Blea, Margaret Blea, Francis Grine, Isabella Blea, and Enrique Blea. Alice was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Blea and sister, Adelaida Sanchez. She has left behind a rich legacy of memories to cherish, honor and emulate. She was loved by all.

Alice was one of 12 children born to Jose Blea and Patrita Archuleta in Mosquero, NM. They were a family of low means which only brought them closer together. Family meant the world to her, all through her life she never forgot where she came from and what was really important – The Love of Family. A graduate of Clayton High School class of 1952, she was annually seen at the Union County Picnic loving the company of friends.

Alice retired from Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. She volunteered at Bear Canyon Senior Center for many years and enjoyed the company of many people. She was engaged in politics, had an opinion and wasn’t afraid to voice it. She remained strong willed and fought till the end.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, April 13, 2018, 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 14, 2018, 10:00 a.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
