Age 79, passed away on June 22, 2014 at home with her husband of 56 years following a long illness with Parkinson's. Alice was born in New York City in 1935 and was raised in the Bronx. Educated as an RN, she traveled across country to live in Alaska but stopped in Albuquerque, NM to work at Bernalillo County Indian Hospital (BCMC) to finance the rest of her travel. There she met her future husband, Edward L. Johnson, MD, FACS the love of her life and they married in 1958. Alice's adventurous spirit and zest for life and Ed's enthusiasm and willingness to be a part of the adventure took them around the world - sitting with the silverback gorillas in Rawanda to walking with the penguins in Antarctica and sleeping overnight at the top of Machupichu. She was involved with many civic activities such as Suicide Prevention Center and a docent at the zoo and was active in St. Chad's Episcopal Church. She is survived by her husband, Ed and their children, Bruce Johnson, Tammy and her husband, Brad Baack, Allison and her husband, John Kane, and Lance Johnson; six grandchildren, Joshua Johnson, Amber and Aidan Baack, Derek, Jonathan and Jared Kane; and her sister, Marilyn Heilman along with numerous extended family. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Chad's Episcopal Church, 7171 Tennyson St NE, Albuquerque, NM 87122.
