Alfredo Cordova

Alfredo Cordova, 98, from Pena Blanca, NM, died comfortably on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.He was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Lina; son, Alfred; and daughter, Naida. He is survived by his loving brother, Anthony (Sammy) Cordova; daughter, Dorothy Cordova-Barnhill; grandchildren, Nadine and Mark Mathews, George and Esperanza Wyler, Carl and Kathy Chavez, Roberta Chavez, Ramona Omoda, Anthony (Tony) Cordova, and Corina and Richard Sandoval; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Alfredo met his wife, Lina while living in Pena Blanca, and they had three children, Naida, Alfred, and Dorothy. He served in the US Army during WWII and was proud to have freed prisoners from concentration camps in Germany. Alfred later travelled to France in 2004 where he was honored by the people of France for his participation in the liberation of Europe from the Nazis. There, he received the Legion of Honor medal from the French Government.

Alfredo operated a small business in Albuquerque for many years called "Al's Upholstery." He continued to work after retirement, buying and selling items at the flea market and telling the stories of his life. He was known for his love of family, his faith, and his generosity. Alfredo enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and he always had green chile in the freezer.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE. Burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. The family requests that face coverings be worn at all services.
