Alfredo Larry Candelaria, Sr., age 76, beloved father, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend was called to his eternal resting place on Saturday, January 21, 2023. He entered this world on August 11, 1946, in San Mateo, NM, born to Felix and Miteria Candelaria. He passed away peacefully at home in the early morning surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Parsons and son-in-law, Larry Parsons; son, Alfredo Larry (Gene) Candelaria, Jr. and daughter-in -law, Maria Candelaria; daughter, Michelle Edwards and son-in-law, Richard Edwards; grandchildren, Brian and wife Kaitlin, Jasmine, Vincent, Lucas and Alicia; great-grandchildren, Emma, Nathaniel, Joshua, and Noah. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Swatfager and husband Rodney, Peggy, Barbara Reyna and husband Alfonso, Dora Galvan and husband Manuel, Dennis Candelaria, and Felix Candelaria and wife Sarah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Maria Becerra Candelaria; mother, Miteria Candelaria; father, Felix Candelaria; brothers, Ernesto Candelaria and Orlando Candelaria; and sisters, Gloria Garcia and Estella Perea.
He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his service and for being a part of the Marines. He was a truck driver for Rider/Allied for many years. But the job he loved most was being a great-grandpa and grandpa to his grandkids. He absolutely loved all his babies! If you got a bite from him then you knew he loved you! He will be dearly missed by everyone.
An Inurnment will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023. Location and time still pending.
