Alfred L. Sharp

d. August 26, 2021

Alfred L Sharp, 84, was called home to be with the lord on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Alfred was born on July 31, 1937 in Walters, Oklahoma.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Sharp, and survived by his sons Todd Sharp, Richard Dudley, and Charles Dudley.

Alfred was a civil engineer for the Air Force for many years after he graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in aeronautical engineering. Alfred married Bobby Jean Palmer Dudley and gained two sons; Richard and Charles. They moved to Kettering, Ohio, and Al started his career at Wright Patterson AFB and worked as an engineer. They moved to Dayton, Ohio, where Todd Sharp was born. Eventually, the family flew to Albuquerque, NM, in a Stinson aircraft that Al rebuilt in his garage. Al then worked as a civil engineer at Kirtland Air Force Base. Al always had an interest in airplanes. When he was 15 years old, he bought an old crop duster which he rebuilt in a two story loft above his parents' garage.

Alfred was very adventurous. He loved to sail and sailed locally, off the coast of California to Santa Catalina Island, across the Gulf of California to the Baja in Mexico, Vancouver Island in British Columbia, and many more.

Alfred was a numbers person and was excellent with computers and studied computer languages for many years. He put his knowledge to use at work, for personal use, and at his Church.

After Bobby passed away, Alfred’s parents Harvey Alfred 'H.A.' Sharp and Pearl Lavern Sharp moved to Albuquerque to take care of Todd while Alfred was working. Alfred was an active member of the Church of Christ where Al met Nancy Archer whom he was married to for 41 years until she passed away. Alfred and Nancy were also adventurous together and traveled to many places together around the world.

Alfred was a very kind and helpful person. He used many of his talents to help people around him and in the Church. Alfred belonged to Northeast Church of Christ congregation which he loved dearly. He volunteered his services to many people in the congregation. He made CDs of sermons and sent them to members so they never missed a sermon. Alfred was a very good friend to all and will be dearly missed.

Interment has taken place at Holt Cemetery in Spearman, Texas.  A Memorial Service will be held at Northeast Church of Christ, 11000 Paseo Del Norte NE, Albuquerque, NM on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.
