Age 89, beloved spouse, father, and friend, went to his heavenly father Tuesday January 28, 2014. He was a Merchant Marine WWII Veteran active in both theaters of the Pacific and the Atlantic till 1946. Commissioned in the Army Reserves he taught general staff courses for 25 years and retired with commendations as a Full Colonel. During this time he also was a Defense Security Specialist with the Government, AEC. He then became a staff writer for 3 Wolfe Publishing sporting magazines, achieving Assisting Editor and Editor. Alfred was an avid hunter with a great sense of humor who instilled in his children a deep love of the outdoors. He is survived by wife, Elizabeth J. Miller, his spouse of 61 years of Albuquerque, NM; son, Christopher Miller of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Nicole (Richard) Castellese of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughter, Candace (Colt) Stout of Bosque Farms, NM; granddaughter, Christen Miller of Canyon, TX. Miller was preceded in death by his mother, Nan Miller, and father, Alfred Henry Miller, Sr. Rosary will be recited Friday February, 7, 2014, 9:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. followed by Military Honor Guard and reception at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave NE. Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
