Alfred Richard, "Dick" Hardin was born on March 25, 1929 in Amarillo, Texas and went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2015. He is survived by three children; Jim Hardin and his wife, Effie, of Tijeras, Dede Hardin Ferguson and her husband, David, of Sandia Park and Lisa Hardin Innis and her husband, Mark of Albuquerque. He was affectionately known as "Grandpa Curley" to his ten grandchildren and seven (almost eight in October) great-grandchildren. Dick is preceded in death by his wife of almost 64 years, Reba Yocham Hardin. He considered their marriage the greatest legacy they leave to their children and grandchildren. Dick began playing tennis when he was very young and became the youngest Amarillo Singles Champion at that time when he was still in high school. He put himself through college on a tennis scholarship at Texas A&M University. Everyone who knew him knows he wore his Aggie ring with pride. Dick served in the army stationed in Japan during the Korean War. After he returned home he began a career in accounting and worked in the insurance business. The family moved from Texas to New Mexico in 1966. Dick worked as an internal auditor and benefits manager for Zangara Dodge until his retirement. Dick and Reba were members of Del Norte Baptist Church for many years where he taught a Sunday school class and served as a deacon. They leave behind many cherished memories and friends. He believed that God's gift of salvation cannot be earned but is freely given through His grace. The Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 10:00am at Del Norte Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30pm.
