Alexander Ritchie Sneddon

June 29, 1933 — February 10, 2022

Alexander "Rick" Ritchie Sneddon, Jr. passed peacefully at home Thursday, February 10. Rick was born on June 29, 1933, in Delagua, CO, the son of Beatrice Droubay Sneddon of Salt Lake City, UT and Scottish immigrant Alexander R. Sneddon, Sr. of Dalmuir, Scotland and later Diamondville, WY. He is survived by son Matthew Ritchie and wife Marcellea Davis Sneddon of Albuquerque, NM, and daughter Amy Cathleen Haggquist, her husband Dr. Gregory W., and grandchildren Jack and Isabelle of Longmont, CO. Rick was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Barbara "Tippy" Barnard Sneddon and his sister Bonnie Elaine Wenk. An Albuquerque resident since 1942, Rick attended Highland High School and graduated from the University of New Mexico, was a member of Sigma Tau honorary fraternity and Sigma Chi social fraternity, and earned a bachelor's degree in Architecture and another in Engineering. He was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps and a registered New Mexico architect. He worked for several Albuquerque architects and then the Atomic Energy Commission, which became the Department of Energy. Rick was blessed with a beautiful loving wife, great children, their families, and fine friends. He and Barbara loved skiing and traveling. "Laddies, except for the high taxes, it was a good ride," Rick.
