Alexander Stephen Madsen

Alexander Stephen Madsen of Albuquerque, New Mexico, age 13, passed away on December 31, 2018. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, 9:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Montano Ward, 1100 Montano Road NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107, with a Funeral Service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park.

Alex was born January 29, 2005 into a loving family. He is the fourth of eight siblings. He was a wonderful friend and example to all. He enjoyed playing tennis, chess, basketball, and soccer. He was in the band and participated in show choir. He possessed a tender heartedness that he sometimes tried to hide under a gruff facade. He loved his siblings and volunteered to put his younger sister and brother to bed most nights, helping brush their teeth and read them stories. He enjoyed playing games with his friends and family and was passionate about it. He slept with the same stuffed bear since he was two years old. He enjoyed making treats for his family and cooking dinner with his mother. He was a great worker and helper. He was the first to clean his room, help his mother set up and work at Snowie, and help his Dad with work in the yard. Sometimes he grumbled, but he always came through.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He took his scriptures to church each week without being asked or reminded. His mother would often find him in his room late at night reading his scriptures on his own. He often surprised us with his insightful and thoughtful answers to gospel questions. They revealed a commitment to improve himself in the eyes of God that was well beyond his physical years.

Alex is loved and will be greatly missed, but his family knows that this is just a temporary separation and they look forward with anticipation and love for the glorious day when they will all be reunited.
