Alesia Faye Walker was born May 5, 1955 in Albuquerque, NM to the union of Margaret and Marshall Perry. She attended Albuquerque High School where she was a Majorette. She married Herbert “Mike” Walker on June 22, 1974. To this union three children were born.
“Ganny & Papa” loved to spend time with their grandchildren. They always made time to attend their games and school events. She was a very giving person. She was a Big Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program; she made time to serve the homeless, and was a chairperson with the Good Neighbor fund. Her charity didn’t stop there though; she was constantly doing things for others. When they were not working, or attending functions for the grandkids, Ganny and Papa were traveling. They were the epitome of “road warriors.” She was a longtime member of New Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church, where she participated in the choir, children’s church, Cariño ministry, Women of Faith, G.A.P. (God’s Anointed Prayer) ministry and was a marriage ministry leader.
Alesia, also called “Lisa”, was loved by all she came in contact with and never met a stranger. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 21, 2018. She is survived by her husband, Herbert S. Walker; her children, Anitra Walker of Arlington, TX; Herbert “Marty” Walker of Arlington TX; Ryan Walker of Rio Rancho, NM; seven grandchildren, Elexis, Deylon, Zavier, Aaliyah, Michael, Malachi and Carter; daughter-in-law, Kristl Walker; siblings, David Perry, Wanda Perry, Marcella Wansley and Sherri Perry; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Mosley, brothers-in-law, Steven Walker and Stanley Mosley as well as a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and friends. She was faithful and God-fearing, so we are comforted in knowing that she will be welcomed into Heaven’s gates with the Angels rejoicing and singing. She fought to the very end with a brilliant smile on her face as only she could do! Even when she found it hard to pray, she remained faithful and welcomed the prayers of others.
Lisa, affectionately known as Ganny, Mom, Aunt Lisa, Sissy and EZ Livin, will be dearly missed and remembered by all. May she rest in peace for all eternity! She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Marshall Monroe & Margaret Cozette Perry, sister, Dianna Willis, brother, Rev. Weldon Perry, nephew, Curtis Lee Williams, and aunt Deola Perry.
