Aldo Fabian Arias, age 58, passed away in his sleep on the morning of Saturday, August 15, 2023 at his home in Albuquerque. Aldo was born on July 3, 1965 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to Arturo and Raquel Arias. He grew up in Guadalajara, along with his brother, Arturo and sister, Adriana.
Aldo completed training to become a hair stylist/beautician after secondary school. He worked as a hair stylist/beautician for most of his professional career, which started in Guadalajara and continued in the United States when he immigrated in the late 1980s. He resided in San Francisco, California from the late 1980s until the end of 2017, when he moved to Albuquerque with his husband, Stan Wonn. Aldo met Stan in the spring of 1996 when Stan was in San Francisco for an academic conference. They fell in love and Stan relocated to the Bay Area to live with Aldo in August 1996, and they later married in December 2017 shortly before their relocation to New Mexico. Aldo was an outstanding beauty professional and had a large and loyal clientele. He also had many interests, including music, dancing, art, crochet, Mexican cuisine, plants and pets. Aldo was very sociable, loved to laugh, and made friends easily and for life.
He is survived by his husband, Stan Wonn of Albuquerque; and his brother, Arturo and sister, Adriana, both of Guadalajara. He also leaves behind many other family members in Mexico, along with many other friends he made throughout his life.
Aldo spent the last few years of his life dealing with significant health issues, but we all prefer to remember the good times we had with Aldo over the years. He was a sweet and loving man and we will all miss him greatly. At Aldo's request, no memorial service or funeral will be held. At a future date, his ashes will be scattered in the San Francisco Bay. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
