Alcario "Al" Armenta
Alcario “Al” Armenta, age 72, passed away peacefully in his home after a long battle with a chronic illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Jeannie Armenta; his children; Ronnie, Christopher (Nicole) and Brian (fiancé Christina); one step-son, Joshua Tafoya and a step-daughter Sonya Holmberg (Dustin); his sister, Helen. He was preceded in death by his parents Placida and Alcario Armenta. Al had many loving grandchildren and a great- grandson. He graduated from Albuquerque High School class of 1964 and later attended St Joseph College earning his bachelor’s degree and nearly finished his master's degree from the University of New Mexico. Al served in the U.S. Navy on the USS John R Craig during the Vietnam War. He went on to serve in the Albuquerque Fire Department for 24 years, retiring as a Captain. Following his time with AFD, he went to work for Sandia Labs for 16 years specializing in fire safety. He enjoyed his friends, fly fishing, camping outdoors, traveling, football, and music, but most of all his wife, children and family. He will be missed greatly by those who knew him closest. A Visitation will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019, 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper Ave NW. A Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. after which Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE with full Military and Fire Department Honors.
