Albert "Bert" E. Sutton

Albert E. (Bert) Sutton, 82, of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021.

Bert was born to Albert and Mary (Lewellen) Sutton in Artesia, NM.  The family later moved to Carlsbad, NM where his brother Jack Michael (Mike) Sutton was born.

Bert attended Carlsbad High School and graduated in 1957. After high school, Bert attended mortuary school in Texas and New Mexico.  He met Lolita L. (Lynn) Gaston whom he married in 1959.  After finishing mortuary school, Bert and Lynn moved to Albuquerque, NM.  He began his career as a funeral director with Fitzgerald and Son, a job he held until he retired in 2002.  Bert and Lynn were proud parents of two children, Jay and Jolie.  After the passing of his wife Lynn, Bert met Cheryl Eliason whom he married in 2003.  Bert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He enjoyed many different hobbies and interests including fixing and riding motorcycles, fishing, camping and visiting with family and friends.  Bert was known for his incredible patience, mischievous but quiet good-naturedness and his unwavering calmness in the face of even the most chaotic and challenging of situations.

Bert is survived by his wife Cheryl; daughter, Jolie; stepsons, Colby and Andy; son-in-law, Tony; grandchildren, Jessica, Dylan, Sara; step-grandchildren, Sofia and Valeri; and several great-grandchildren.  Bert is preceded in death by his wife, Lynn; son, Jay; parents, Albert and Mary; and brother, Mike.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NM Dog or All Ears Basset Rescue.

Visitation will be one hour prior (10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) to the service.

Face masks are required.  Casual dress is requested.
