Albert G. Murray

d. October 24, 2015

Albert G. Murray, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2015 after a long life and a short illness. He leaves his children, Tom Murray, Jim Murray, Linda Hallock, Pam Johnson, Leslie Slater, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Millie, and his grandson Bobby. As a young man, he was a racecar driver and a charter member of NASCAR, MARC and the Throttle Jammers Hotrod Club in Cleveland, OH. He also competitively raced for many years at Speedway Park in Albuquerque. During WWII, he joined the US Army Air Force and attended Aviation Cadet Training at Union University. He was an illustrator, an artist, photographer, draftsman, and foster parent. He retired after a long and satisfying career with Public Service Company Of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He enjoyed trail running, hiking, auto racing, playing soft ball with the "Diehards", painting watercolors, aviation, trains, and had a penchant for rescuing baby birds. At the age of 79, he took a 14 day whitewater rafting trip through the Grand Canyon and often stated that it was one of his greatest accomplishments. Special thanks to the Presbyterian Hospice Team who lovingly guided and supported us in caring for our father in the comfort of his home as he made his transition from this life to the next. In lieu of a memorial service, his ashes will be divided among his children and some will be scattered at his favorite places, the Sandia's, the Grand Canyon, and Alaska.
