Albert McMurray

June 13, 1952 — March 6, 2025

With heavy hearts the family of Albert Lindsey McMurray, 72, announces his unexpected passing after suffering a heart attack at home, the morning of March 6, 2025.

He was born in Wichita, Kansas, Friday, June 13, 1952, to Albert and Lavilla McMurray. His mother was determined her child wouldn't be born on a Friday the 13th. But Lindsey proved her wrong and throughout his life he was quite proud to celebrate any Friday the 13th, as he saw it as particularly lucky. Lindsey was the youngest child of the McMurray family with 2 older siblings, Sandra McMurray Fugua, and Gary McMurray. His siblings were 10 and 8 years older, so his childhood was filled with school, art, and sports. He excelled in all those areas and made many lifelong friends.

Graduating from Sandia High School in 1970, Lindsey attended NMSU and UNM and then graduated from UNM in1976 with a degree in art.

Lindsey met Sandra Barr in 1977, and they married in 1979 in Lamy, New Mexico at the Legal Tender. They were married 46 years. Their son, Sean, was born 3 years later, and he became the joy of his parents' life. Lindsey took on the task of coaching Sean in any chosen sport from baseball to basketball to soccer. Although Lindsey was the first to admit he knew nothing about soccer! Sean took after his father as a talented athlete and good student. With the birth of our grandson, Landon, and Sean's marriage to Kelly Dodd, the McMurray family was whole.

Lindsey retired from PNM after 30 years, working in the gas utility branch when he was offered a job with Seminole Energy. He retired completely in 2013.

For those who knew Lindsey, he was many things.

A music lover, always ready to regal a listener with tales of concerts he attended or singing along, off key to every song he knew.

A fisherman, always ready to sit by a lake for hours, all the while dreading a bite on the line that might end the day, because who eats fish?

A golfer, enjoying a round with old friends, family and teaching his grandson the joys of the game.

A plant lover, always ready to use his knowledge from Rowlands Nursery to cultivate greenery.

A talented artist, always ready to use his skills on all forms of media, including cardboard, making an X-wing costume for his grandson.

A proud father and grandfather, always ready to heap praise upon his family for their big and little accomplishments.

A loving husband, always ready to tell the world what an amazing life he had built with his loving wife, fine son and family and good friends.

Lindsey lived his life the way he wanted and that was a life full of love and happiness. We ask that you honor his life by gathering your family and friends close to share a good meal and perhaps a drink, maybe a martini, and tell them that you love them.

A celebration of Lindsey's life will be held at a later date. Please contact the family for more information. In lieu of flowers donations could be made to the American Diabetes Association, MS Society, Breast Cancer Awareness.
