Albert Haukos (Papo), 82, of Cimarron, NM, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and husband, was called to his eternal resting place on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. He entered this world on August 19, 1931 in Erhard, Minnesota, one of six children born to Albert and Florence Haukos. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Leota Haukos on June 10, 2002. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Schwebke of Santa Fe; son, Gary Haukos of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Sara, Eric (of Santa Fe) and Sean Schwebke (of NYC); great-grandchildren, Abeni Luv and Darren James (of Santa Fe); and second wife, Mildred Nadine Haukos(of Oregon). Albert served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1953. His work in the telecommunications field led him from the Aleutian Islands of Alaska to Iran to Egypt to Antarctica and all over the United States. Up until he was no longer able, he was quite the hunter, fisherman, adventurer, storyteller and kidder. Even after his body began to give out and he could no longer saddle up, he would still help round up cattle on his four-wheeler; the Yamaha cowboy. His faith in God was strong and never wavered. Albert touched the lives of many people with his smile, his sparkling blue eyes and his generosity. His incredible sense of humor was evident all the way to the end. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at McGee Memorial Chapel, 1320 Luisa Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505.
