Alan B. Geuder, Jr.

Alan B. Geuder, Jr. was called to his heavenly home on March 23, 2025. Alan was a devoted and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, teacher, administrator, coach and mentor. His kindness and generosity touched the hearts of many. Fervently devoted to his faith, Alan shared the Savior throughout his life. 

Born in New Kensington, PA on November 30, 1938, Alan spent his childhood in New Jersey. He pursued his higher education at Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL, where he laid the foundation for his lifelong passion for teaching and leadership. 

Alan's work took him to Fort Wayne, IN, Hinsdale, IL, Austin, TX, Cedar Crest, NM and Albuquerque, NM. Alan's engaging and entertaining style made learning a joy for his students. He served as teacher, administrator, and coach at Immanuel Lutheran School for 28 years.

As a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Alan continued to live out his calling after retirement, visiting shut-ins, offering encouragement and singing hymns with them 

Alan married the love of his life, Helen, and for 63 years they shared the love of their ministry together. Their marriage was blessed with children, Alan Geuder and Beth (Mike) Calhoun, and grandchildren, Cameron (Brooke) Calhoun and Madi Calhoun. 

Alan's family is extremely grateful to the dedicated, compassionate staff at UNMH  for their care in the last days of his journey home. Special thanks to Pastor Kear, members of Immanuel Lutheran Church, friends, family, and all the loving people who blessed Alan's life. 

A memorial service will be held on April 12, 2025 at 2:00 in the afternoon at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 Gold Avenue SW, in Albuquerque. Inurnment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Alan's family is requesting contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church or school.
