Alan Bender, a cherished husband, father, and beloved "Grampy," departed from this world on March 26, 2024, in Albuquerque, NM, at the age of 79. Born in Dodge City, Kansas, on December 8, 1944, Alan's journey was marked by generosity and a profound dedication to his loved ones.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Myrtle Bender. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Jeannine, his daughter Cheryl (Shane), and his cherished grandson, Conor, whom he adored. Additionally, he leaves behind a host of friends and extended family who will deeply feel his absence.
Alan served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1970. In 1971, he graduated from the University of New Mexico, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. He went on to establish himself as a successful businessman, owning and operating Bender Construction, Inc. for two decades.
Fortunate to retire early, Alan embraced the joys of life with zest. He found solace and contentment in his northern New Mexico cabin, where he spent cherished moments with friends and family. An avid reader, hunter, bowman, and angler, Alan loved spending time in the great outdoors.
Alan's greatest joy came from being surrounded by family and friends. Alan's legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering support will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
