Agustine Ernesto “Ernie” Montoya, age 78, was called to his eternal resting place on December 2, 2018. He passed away after an extended battle with Parkinson's Disease. Ernie entered this world on May 28, 1940 in Torreón, NM, born to Frank and Ocariz Montoya. He was raised in the Barelas neighborhood and attended Albuquerque Public Schools. He later worked for APS starting at Kirtland Elementary and subsequently retiring from Coronado Regional Office.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ocariz Montoya; his twin brother, Eduardo, who passed away at birth; brothers, Frank, and Ray Montoya; sister, Melba Duran; uncle Jimmie Castillo; brothers-in-law, Excelso Aragon and Isidro Aragon; and sister-in-law, Mary Castillo.
He is survived by his wife, Mauricia; brothers, Abram Montoya, Eddie Montoya and wife, Salina, Gabriel Montoya and wife, Yayita, and Joseph Montoya and wife, Jaylene; sisters, Isabel Perea and husband, Boleslo, Rosemary Jaramillo and husband, Tom, and Carmen C de Baca and husband, Ernie; 21 nieces; 16 nephews; and several godchildren.
A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH-University. Friends are invited to visit beginning at 6:00 p.m. A Mass will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018, 9:00 a.m., at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd SW. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE. Pallbearers will be, Matthew Espinosa, Erminio Salas, David Sanchez, Gabriel Montoya, Eddie Montoya and Ernie C de Baca.
