Agnes (Herrera) Sanchez

January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970

Agnes H Sanchez was born in March of 1932 to her parents, Fabian & Eloisa Herrera. It’s with a broken heart & shattered spirit that our beautiful mother returned to her Heavenly home on Saturday January 22nd, 2022. Our mother wasn’t supposed to die at this time. She was such a strong woman for being 89 years young, she was pretty healthy, and we believed she would have lasted until at least 100 years old, but our Heavenly Father had other plans for her.

Agnes came from a very large family, a family of 16, of which she was the eighth born.  She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Schumway and her husband Lynn and Florence Bartles and her husband Stan, all of Mesa, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ernestina, Mary, Nellie, Fabian, Marcelino, Delia, Pedro, Dennis, Horace, Paul, Dorothy, Marvin, Franklin, Florence and James.

Agnes had 6 children consisting of 3 boys and 3 girls. From the oldest is daughter, Crisie Salazar; son, Urbano Sanchez Jr (Barnie) and wife Lee; daughter, Rose Sanchez and husband Raymond; daughter, Josie (Darlene) Wilson and husband Melvin; sons Andrew Sanchez and Kenny Sanchez. Agnes also had 15 grandchildren, Antoinette Sandoval and husband Joe, Natalie Cottle and husband Jeremy, Ray Anthony Salazar and wife Carrie, Aaron Sanchez and wife Tammy, James Sanchez,  Jenny Herrera, Raymond Sanchez Jr, Erlinda Maes and husband Kelly, Robert Sanchez and partner Matthew Cordova, Loriann Lovato and companion Jeremy Johnson, Mandy Wilson and wife Rose, Desiree Wilson and companion Joshua Kaler, Melvin Wilson Jr and Wife Mariah, Andrew Sanchez (AJ) and  Jessica Sanchez and companion Darius Moore. Agnes has 31 Great-Grandchildren. Makayla and husband Isaac, Madilyn, Savanna, Sierra, Jeremiah, Sophia, Larissa, Jason, Jewel, Joselyn, Ashley and husband Joshua, Brandie, Cynthia Ortiz and husband Gabe, Kaitlyn, Hayden, Camden, Allyson, Megan, Donna and companion Noe, Erika, Avery, Charly, Harley, Christianna, Jesse and wife, Jeanal, Tyler, Ryan, Melvin III, Mayvis, Ali, Sariah. And 5 Great Great Grandchildren Josiah, Jeremyah, Junior, Ben, Charlie and DJ.

Agnes had a compassion and kindness for everyone she met and came in contact with. Her faith and belief as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for over 65 Years was amazing.  She had many callings over the years.  Every time she spoke to old and new acquaintances she would share the gospel. Agnes loved to read the scriptures every day. Agnes enjoyed being outside doing yard work, raking leaves, burning weeds, and picking up sticks. Always outside is where you’d find her. She never liked to be indoors and she was also a bit of a pack rat. She never threw anything away; she would always find a use for it. Other hobbies were mending and sewing clothes and making jewelry. She loved her clothes, she was so tiny that everything fit and if it was too big she’d take it in. If too small she made it bigger. She had 3 rooms of clothes and walk-in closets that you couldn’t walk in. She just loved clothes. If she wanted she could wear a different out-fit every day for 10 years and never wear the same thing twice. As for jewelry she loved to buy beads and make all kinds of jewelry and made over 800 necklaces and gave them away and sold very few.  She was addicted to making jewelry when it was cold outside and anytime she had a chance.

Agnes was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, sister, cousin, and a friend. She loved life and made friends everywhere she went.  She worked as a Foster Grandmother at Kit Carson Elementary school. She would help the teachers and work with the children and loved them dearly and they loved her, she so loved that job. She was a Foster Grandparent for 25 years. Agnes always liked to stay busy but homemaker she definitely was not. She never really liked house work, she really enjoyed doing crafts.
The Lord saw Agnes was getting tired and decided to take her to her Heavenly Home to be with all her loved ones that had gone before her. She was greeted at the Gates of Heaven by her loving husband of 56 years, Urbano, her sons Kenny and Andrew, her grandsons Aaron and James, Parents Fabian and Eloisa, and many other friends and family members. She will be greatly missed and loved.
Until we meet again Our Dear Beautiful Mother.
