Afton Powell

Afton Powell, age 73, went home to our Lord in Heaven on May 5, 2017. He was the son of Bill and Elsie Powell, father to Billy Powell and brother of Linda White, previously deceased.

Afton is survived by his wife, Claudia Powell; his son, John Powell; his sister, Carol and her husband, Quint Hudson; niece, Janice Smith; nephews, Ronnie Meek, Collin Meek and their families.

Afton was a long time employee of H & C Truck Electrical. He had great respect for his co-workers and customers. He enjoyed restoring 1963 Ford Rancheros to show room condition and took great pride in talking about his work with anyone who would listen. He liked John Deere Tractors and watching tractor pulls with his wife.

Afton will be missed by everyone who knew him. The family would like to thank Amber Care Hospice and the staff at La Cueva Assisted Living.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH – University. Friends may visit on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at La Cueva Assisted Living, 14216 La Cueva Ave NE, Albuquerque 87123. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
