Adell Lewis was born Thursday, July 9, 1931, to John and Julia Geddie in Deatsville, AL (Beat 14). She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Julia Geddie; husband, Albert Lewis; son, Richard Lewis; siblings, Lucille White, Hazel Geddie, twin sister, Maybell Lewis, Loomis Geddie, and David Geddie. She is survived by her sister, Marietta Macrander (Jim); daughter-in-law, Lou Nutt (Ron); three grandchildren, Katelyn Lewis, Matthew Lewis (Erin) and Allison Nutt; two great-grandchildren, James Hayes, and Finley Josephine Lewis; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Our thanks and gratitude to Presbyterian Hospice (hospics as Dell would say) for their care and support for Adell and her family. From the family we offer our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to so many individuals who played such an important role in Adell’s life. She may not have been able to express her gratitude, but rest assured whether you were a worker, family friend, neighbor, banker, or the Walmart greeter, you brought her joy.
Adell spent her youth on the family farm,” out on the Postal route”, “Beat 14” in Deatsville, just a stone’s throw from Slapout, Alabama (yes, there is such a place), working with her dad in the garden and picking cotton. She graduated alongside her twin sister, Maybell, from Holtville High School. She married a charming and handsome man named Albert Lewis, and moved to St. Petersburg, FL. Later, Albert and Adell moved to Albuquerque NM, where they raised their son, Richard, and finished their life together.
