Adelina "Lena" Gutierrez, age 87, lost her battle with cancer and was quietly called away to be with our Lord on March 3, 2017.
She was born in Albuquerque, NM to her parents, Jose Andres and Tomasita Montoya. She was met with open arms by her best friend, and loving husband of almost 60 years, William, "Willie," "Moe" Gutierrez; her parents; her sister, Rosalie Cotignola; and brothers, Tony, Nerio, Louie, and Joe Montoya.
Lena was born and raised in Barelas. She attended Albuquerque High School and both she and Moe graduated from Saint Mary's in 1947, in Albuquerque. She will be remembered for her beautiful quilts, her strength, compassion, generosity, and love for her family.
Lena is survived by her sons, David Xavier Gutierrez, Bill Gutierrez (Pat), Jim Gutierrez (Lynda), Maurice Gutierrez (Peggy), Stan Gutierrez (Alisa Prater); and her daughter, Ellen Marie Gutierrez. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Adam Gutierrez (Liz), Roxanne Farmer (James), Amy Driscoll (Joseph), Ian Gutierrez (Kristin Ciccinati-Gutierrez) , Lyndsi Gutierrez, Keesha Anderson (Jared), Brandon Stewart (Leah), Ted Gutierrez and Fiancé Diana LeChel Brockington, Suzanne Tucek (Josh); great grandchildren, Tilly, Flora, Beau, Kayli and Fiancé, Ryan, Tyler, Seth, Sean, Brooklyn, Grayson, Shyann, Trayton, Tatum, Mya and Noah; as well as a great number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lena was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Rosary will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017, 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
