Adelina E. Cordova

Age 88, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, with her family by her side in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Nina was born April 26, 1926 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. She was the first child of Edwardo and Inez Gonzales. Of her eight siblings, she is survived by her brothers, Morris Gonzales and his wife, Katy, Lee Gonzales and his wife, Linda, Gilbert S. Gonzales and his wife, Renita Curtis, Bivian Gonzales, and Eddie Gonzales. Nina was preceded in death by her siblings, Ralph, Roy, and Dulcinea Gonzales. Nina and her husband, the late Joe Cordova, cherished their time with their children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son, William Cordova, his wife Rita, their son, Adrian and his wife, Sasha; her son, Carlos Cordova, Jerriene Cordova, and their children, Devin and Alexandria; and her daughter, Shirley Cordova. Nina devoted her life to caring for others. She welcomed family, friends, and children to her home to share joyful moments, holidays, meals, companionship, and she took every opportunity to care for those in need of comfort and healing. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing, music, and baking. On Monday, June 30, 2014, there will be a rosary held in her honour with a family visitation at 6:00 p.m. followed by the service at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2014, 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 1860 Griegos Road NW. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Her family wishes to acknowledge the kindness and caring provided by Tito Fernandez and his staff at Aurora Assisted Living. Tito cared for Nina as though she was his own. And thanks to Loretta Lopez and Lee Gonzales for their caring, kindness, support and comfort. Furthermore, the family thanks Devin Cordova and Christina de Bari for devoting themselves during the past several years to caring for both Nina and Shirley Cordova. They regularly transported Nina and Shirley to appointments, oversaw their care and treatment, provided them with food, love and support. Our Mother/Grandmother, thankfully, was cared for with dignity and with love.
